Divergent Evolutions
I live in one of the first large subdivisions developed in my city. In the years since the early 1950s residents have modified the houses and gardens to suit their needs and aspirations. This series shows us the current parallel state of houses in 2016, houses that started out their existence as the same model from the builder. This set of images is decidedly not a “before and after” exercise, and the houses and grounds continue to be almost-living in how they continue to evolve.
Photography has a long rich history of “typologies” that are presented in a fairly deadpan way. I wanted something a little more engaged that showed the hand of the artist, so this is what I ended up with…
