If Something Can Go Wrong… Failed Merges

This informal gathering of related groups of works looks at ways imaging technology can go off and do its own cool thing.

Failed Merges uses merge software that is designed to paste together details into a larger photograph. Sometimes weird stuff happens, though, and sometimes the results are really fascinating. I started to save some of the more interesting mis-merges. And then I went off and decided to try to confuse the software to see what it would do with the imperfect input.

It’s probably just a short step from here to AI-generated art…
